Level Lodge AF&AM created a Masonic Angel Fund November 7th, 2005. We started with $50 and the very next day gave $48 to 3 students at Flagg Street School who could not afford to go on a field trip. Since that meager beginning the fund has partnered with three other schools in Worcester and, as of September 1st, 2009 has given over $12,000 to 463 students in need.
The following request is the one I most remember, it came from the Adjustment Counselor at Flagg Street School on October 17th 2006. “We have a family in crisis. The children need clothing (full wardrobe). Would it be possible to get a gift certificate to Target, Wal-Mart or any dept store for the following amt:
$100 for 1st grade female
$100 for 3rd grade male
Anywhere and any amount would be appreciated. Thanks.”
Due to domestic violence, a mother had taken her two children to a shelter in the middle of the night with only the clothes on their backs.
The certificate was delivered to the school in less than three hours.
In February of 2008 the fund became a 501(c)3 tax deductible charity.
Due to “matching funds”, over 100% of all donations are available to children in need.
